# ubuntu20: enabled but not started/exited

systemctl restart sysstat.service

enable the unattended mode

mv -i /etc/default/sysstat /etc/default/sysstat.dist
echo ENABLED=true > /etc/default/sysstat

find /etc/cron* | grep sysstat
cat /etc/cron.d/sysstat
cat /etc/cron.daily/sysstat

slackware

slackpkg search sysstat
slackpkg install sysstat
ls -lF /etc/rc.d/rc.sysstat
/etc/rc.d/rc.sysstat restart
ls -lF /usr/lib64/sa/sa1

Setup

tune the unattended mode, we don’t need inode nor space usage (XALL), we only want performance metrics

mv -i /etc/sysstat/sysstat /etc/sysstat/sysstat.dist
grep -vE '^#|^$' /etc/sysstat/sysstat.dist > /etc/sysstat/sysstat
vi /etc/sysstat/sysstat

#SADC_OPTIONS="-S DISK"
SADC_OPTIONS="-S ALL"

Ready to go

    sar -V

see sysstat-ops
