tested on Slackware 14.2
For example from Xerox drivers, you will need this filter
cp ./x86_64/rastertospl /usr/lib64/cups/filter/
force two-sided
lpoptions -p xeroxlp -o sides=two-sided-long-edge lpoptions
troubles
Unable to open raster stream - : Broken pipe
==> maybe you’re too optimistic and enabled fancy settings/features (high quality, …)
draft maybe it could be possible to setup the printer from the command line as such (seems to work but not fully tested)
lpadmin -p xeroxlp2 -v lpd://x.x.x.x -P $HOME/Xerox_Phaser_3260.ppd -o printer-is-shared=false -o PageSize=A4 -o XRFaxCoverSize=A4 -o MediaType=SystemDefault -o MediaColor=Auto -o XRSeparatorMediaColor=Auto -o Sides=two-sided-long-edge -E
and for the record the default layout w/ FF
